In the midst of a convo/debate my internet connection went down. I'm having major kitchen/dining work done and had to dismantle all my computer stuff and reconnect in another room. Needless to say it all went tits up.

Really can't believe that it all went at such a crucial time. To anyone I was 'in the midst with' sorry - I wasn't sulking.

Thumbs up to Virgin though - they were here at 8 this morning - I have a shiny new connector box thingy and a free upgrade (means bugger all to me - very nice though).

One day with no internet access and I was climbing the walls.

How dependent are we?

incidentally although my kitchen is a bomb site and there's muck and dust everywhere (supporting wall and ceiling demolished etc.) I'm very excited!

We're having a new kitchen fitted and the dining room knocked through and incorporated. The kitchen was pretty large anyway with a dining table but the dining room never got used. Over the years it has been a play room/dining room/bed sit for long term guests etc but it somehow wasn't a friendly room. I now have a lovely large open space with triple aspect windows and I'm really hoping it'll all be lovely!

As for internet keeping me sane - I sometimes wonder .

Before I switched to Virgin cable, my broadband connection was dreadful due to a faulty telephone cable outside the house which Orange refused to accept there was a problem and BT said it was Orange's responsibility to contact them for an engineer to be sent out. It got so bad that there could be days without any connection and I need it for my work.

El Loro

have to say virgin broadbnad is excellent, and good value if you live in a cabled area.their call centre is staffed by nice ladies who have no clue what you are talking about and  do nothing to help  you , but  they do that very politely.

i got the hump with them a while back and moved to BT.

I acted in haste and am repenting at leisure.

I did that Jackson! Switched to BT as it was cheaper and i wasn't getting the help i needed from Virgin.... ended up tied into an 18month contract and hating it! BT connection was really bad and i could never use the phone as no one could hear me!...... back with Virgin now and will not be switching again unless they start charging the earth
