United Biscuits took the Customs & Excise to court some 20 years ago about whether Jaffa Cakes are biscuits or cakes. Chocolate coated biscuits are subject to VAT, but chocolate coated cakes aren't.
The judge decided that Jaffa cakes were cakes. United Biscuits said that if you leave cakes out, they go hard, but biscuits go soft, and the judge agreed.
The Lidl near me does cherry jaffa cakes - and I think a lemon and lime one too.
They have all different varieties now in ownbrand stuff/

Milk chocolate covered Jaffa cakes would be too sickly for me. I love the dark chocolate on the original version.
And the lime, strawberry etc versions are just wrong.....Jaffa cakes are orangey!!
