I had a problem with Firefox freezing and 'hanging' when I tried to load up threads with Youtube links, and the Youtube site itself.

Clearing cookies, website preferences, offline data etc seemed to make things better....but I still can't go into the music video thread on here without having to wait absolutely ages for data to appear on the screen.

Sorry this isn't much help Pirate, have you tried the old 'shutdown and restart PC', then try again to install?

After every new installation you must close everything and "restart" your poota

Worked for me - good luck

And sometimes to get rid of all the files it's best to work in Safe Mode, good luck.

And while in Safe Mode, it may be useful to run a full antivirus scan. It will take time for the scan to go through your computer - on mine 3+ hours during which time don't try to use the computer and you won't have any internet access.
