The ugly side of charity

Reads like a Who's Who of the North West celeb scene. Footballers, pop stars, wags, Coronation Street actors - bound to be some Hollyoaks in there too etc,

Yet only £8k of £250k raised was actually given to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

DM article admittedly

Fecking hell!    I don't know shit about stuff like this, but surely they must be breaking some kind of law?  Many people have actually given money to this, believing that it would be given to people who need it, and yet some 96% of it has gone to the snooty effing hooray henrys who claim to 'care' enough to raise money for charities.

This needs a SERIOUS investigation.  If *I* were to raise money for a cancer charity or some other deserving and popular cause, and I roped in a few dozen people to help me, and we raised a hundred grand, and I only gave about five grand to the charity, I would be bastard well arrested!

But then, I am an ordinary working class nobody, and not a snooty twat with lots of money and influence, with friends in high places.

Apart from the BBC based charities I don't think any of the big ones would welcome investigation. Then of course there are the purely fraudulent ones who call themselves a charity for tax purposes. I think it's wrong to single out this one.

No probs Garage Joe, I didn't think you were.  I suppose this one has intentionally become a bit of a scene for the North West's celebs and those who want to be in their circle to be seen at and involved in so is quite high profile.  More newsworthy because of that I'd guess.
