Halogen heaters seem to be very reasonable to run Summer and they are quite effective too.
Fan heaters are expensive to run, so I'd avoid them if you can.

Yes i agree , electric heaters are very expensive to run and would avoid them if possible x
No, thats the down side for me, they can be very bright.
Cheaper to run, Summer but you may need to wear shades
Although the light from the halogen heaters is bright I find that if I just angle them away from direct vision they work fine, they heat up a small room in no time at a very economic cost and no replacement canisters either.
Is this thread a spin-off of the Buddies
It looks that way, Squiggle.
have one of these at work

throws out some heat, you can smell the oil at the start but its no way as bad as the stink from gas heaters.
Fan heaters are expensive to run but in their defence, they do chuck out heat and move it around a room pretty efficiently. Can be noisy bleeders too.
Leccy heaters cost a bomb. I know because we had them before we got gas central heating installed.

We had ceramic heaters at one point. They were great. Mil's heating went funny though, so we gave them to her 'cos they had very simple controls.
Back to the fan heater, but we don't need to use it very often,

the ceramic ones are brilliant!
Yah can get your Leccy "fixed" if you know a "man". I don't because I know I'd be the one that got caught.I know others that have,,,
erm...i dunno that you have to refil them. have ours four years and it's never been refilled. myabe that's why it doesn't smell anymore
My mother used to tell us to leave a cup of water ontop of the flo gas heaters.
