Finally plucked up the courage to look at that jar of mayo in the fridge....and was pleasantly surprised. BBE July 2012 - so it'll be a few months yet before it's walking out under its own steam.
you are mean't to use them after 4 weeks of opening
Or buy them ready pulled and in a plastic tray

I was watching something about mayo and unless it's homemade the Ph level is so high that nothing can live in it to send it off.
Food Poisoning Myths
MYTH: Mayonnaise is often the cause of food-borne illness.
REALITY: Mayonnaise does not cause food poisoning, bacteria do. And bacteria grow best on foods that contain protein and are at temperatures between 40-140 degrees F. Commercially prepared mayonnaise is safe to use. At greater risk for developing bacteria are the foods mayonnaise is commonly mixed with for picnics and potlucks, such as pasta, potatoes, eggs, chicken, or tuna. But even these will be safe if you keep your cooler below 40 degrees F.
"Small, cut-up surfaces allow the bacteria to grow in the right environment," says Mildred Cody, PhD, RD, head of the nutrition division at Georgia State University. "Try taking whole foods like cherry tomatoes that are easy to eat and leave the mixed salads at home unless you can store them properly."

See.....I think stuff like this is fine if it hasn't been opened beforehand. There's a lot of waste that goes on I reckon.

This bloke on the course was on about ice cream saying the amount of times you get it out of the freezer and let it melt a bit to get a scoop out and then put it back in the freezer thats how food poisoning happens i hope i have passed this course after all this USEFUL rubbish i have learnt

So do I.
We (as a population) throw out tons of perfectly good food these days because of the 'use by' and 'best before' dates and research shows that many people do not understand the difference between 'use by' and 'best before' thus even more waste is created because a lot of food is being thrown out when it reaches its 'best before' date.
But I like fish and I like chooks for my dinner
And I always use raw eggs for my carbonara.
