I've always fancied Port Meirion in Wales - never been though.

I've been to Longleat, loved it.  Alton Towers on my own?  No thanks.  I like the thought of Salisbury.

That does look nice Soozy.  

I just can't decide and I'll end up either bumbling about somewhere I have been loads of times or not go anywhere.

Come down to Devon or Cornwall. It's loverly.

I've never been to that part of the country Cologne, but I imagine it's a place you would want to be outside most of the time.

Dartmoor for defo. You could go to PrinceTown its a proper, old school village in the middle of the moors....think the beginning of American Werewolf in London...but without the werewolves....and London.

York is nice. Its got lots oh historic places to pass the time, lots of open spaces for walks, lots going on, lots of pubs and good restaurants.

Syd is right. It depends what you want. I don't think the weather is that good anywhere in Britain in the next few days, but Devon and Cornwall really do offer you a lot of different things, coast or countryside.

york is beautiful, look at Lincoln too, often overlooked

It's fascinating and lovely Soozy, highly recommended and set in a beautiful location too.

I do hope to go one day.

It's like no other place you will ever see Soozy.

York is too close, plus the step children live there and I would feel obliged to spend some time with them, and I want to get away because I want to be on my own, I don't me on my own as in no other people near me, I just don't want anyone with me, if that makes sense.

I do like the sound of Dartmoor and that area, but it's a hell of a long way from here for a few days, unless I flew and hired a car.  There's an idea.

Go to the Cotswolds ... hire a car and drive around all the little villages, poke about the shops and galleries, eat in the tea rooms.

End up at Stratford ... nice river, lovely town.

Was about to suggest this sort of thing too.

Head South and keep on going until you come face to face with the sea (obviously stopping off along the way)

Then turn around and head back home

Ok what about Edinburgh? Big enough that you wont feel alone and TONS to do and see. Plus you could easily go out on an evening by yourself. ORRRRR how about Brighton!

Gyps, no kidding, I've just come back here after looking at Edinburgh hotels.  I have a favourite hotel there and they do the most delicious Pinot Noir, and I was thinking about how nice it would be to walk around Edinburgh, then sit in the bar with a book and a large glass of Pinot before going to bed.  Plus it has a pool and spa facilities.  Sight seeing, swimming, massage and wine.  I think we might have a winner. 

Cosmo, the idea of driving until I get to the edge is great and a possibility for the next time I runaway go off for some alone time.

Plus the hotel I was talking about puts Elemis bath and shower products in the bathroom.  I love Elemis bath gel.

Cosmo, I do a great job of cranking up the bill without any help.  

Me & Mr went out last night for a few drinks and ended up nestled in a corner sipping champagne, was lovely, he even somehow managed to get them to bring a massive bunch of flowers to the table, from where I have no idea.  (I brought them home, whether I was meant to I'm not sure, but what the hell)
