Yeah, Joe Cocker, an' all that aside....The Beatles version with Ropey Ringo on vocals was a howler.

Re Joe Cocker: a very strong contender for "best cover version of all time", IMO...

I'm with Bill (RIP) Hicks
Do you think any comedian translates??
He was good though
It's lost now.
ob-la-di ob-la-da was pretty bad and probably the first example of cod reggae
Gawd bless the Beatles.....have to agree the Long and Winding Road was not the best, but I blame Paul....
Octopuses Garden may not be brilliant but I still can sing along to it with a smile on my face.
Well I suppose even their less brilliant tracks were still good singalong songs ...

Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine. etc. etc.

My younger readers probably won't be aware but back in the day a crap band called Marmalade had a crack at this one. It was even worse and for some reason they had altered the lyrics.
The Bedrocks had a decent stab at it though.
Octopus' Garden is truly dreadful - as is pretty much everything they let Ringo sing on.
What possessed them?
Did anyone see Maccas son on Daybreak this morning?

In using a vocalist who can't really sing the Beatles were ahead of their time.
Without Ringo we probably wouldn't have had Jim Kerr, Girls Aloud, Lou Reed, X Factor etc. etc.
