My dog never bothers with the birds, they happily come down to feed while she's in the garden.

I was well chuffed; first time of seeing him this year.
Coal tits and Barbary doves are the only ones that have stayed still long enough for a positive identification - so far.

Are Cole tits and coal tits the same ?
Just Googled it ,they are and can be spelt both ways .
I've seen a waxwing before, but not in my garden.

Coal because of its black cap - black as coal.

They're mental! There was a squad of them descended on the garden here , within minutes they'd cleared all the berries off the shrubs .. bold creatures, I was at the back door and they didn't give a damn, just went about their business hoovering up the berries!

I saw a bullfinch about a month ago, at the feeders very pretty bird and becoming rarer alas.
We have a box of coal tits, a box of blue tits, several finches in the hedge, and we had a visit from the jackdaws today!

They are seed eaters,hence their large bills.If you grow thistles and even forget me nots and let them seed you can attract bullfinches.

Lovely, katty! I was a bit bemused, I did think it was a robin with a splash of red that went higher up than usual
The robin is more upright than the bullfinch.

We get loads of ring necked parakeets in London and they are gradually spreading to other parts of the south of England.

These obviously are decended from escaped pet/aviary birds,there's controversy about culling them as they are not a native species etc.I don't know if they harmful to our native wildlife or not.
