Congrats I've never got meringue right
I think you need a VERY hot oven for meringues....and a relitively short time.
Is your oven hot enough?
Make sure it's fully preheated before the meringues go in and then turn it down 50 degrees or so (I'm talking Celsius) then leave them in the oven while it cools completely once the cooking/baking period is over.
Remember to turn the oven off for this!
Not the way I make them - they are on the very lowest number for several hours.
