He's still trying it on...   but now I know its an Alpha thing I am handling him quite well.    If he were a dog I would say its a game he's playing.

He still makes a beeline for me..   but when he comes at me with intent I just point & sternly & loudly say "NO BUTTERCUP"..  and he kinda stops.

I did clap at him a couple of times & that worked too.    He only went for me once this morning.

You can see the little bugger coming from me...

Kinda like a game of Where's Wally..     Find Buttercup...

on the middle photo, on the right hand side between a black hen & a brown hen..  is a big black & white cockeral..   the true Alpha/Kingpin (called Dinner, or sometimes Lucius.. as in Malfoy)..

He just looks at Buttercup in amusement when he starts giving it the large

So Lucius isn't impressed by the Young Pretender then?

I am pleasantly surprised..   Lucius ruthlessly fought his way to the top  (he pecked the top off Dave's head )...   but since he's been at the top he's been pretty chilled.

And.. Lucius has never ever attacked me (thank god...   have you seen the size of him??)

But...   the silkies don't sleep with the rest of the chickens yet...   maybe when (if) they do Lucius will put Buttercup in his place

That could be the answer, Ditty. Maybe Buttercup () just needs cutting down to size by Lucius.

One day I will have...  I have told MrD..  when the kids have buggered off we are selling up & getting somewhere with a garden big enough for me to have chickens...

& ducks...

& perhaps some geese...

and a pig would be nice..

If we win the lottery, Mr Yogi and I are going to do that - and lots of dogs, too.

hahahahaha.. yeah I know what you mean

I had a friend who had a house duck.    He was called "Duck".

he thought he was a person.    If we were all sitting round the table talking he would be on the table... talking with us.   If we were in the front room he would be on the sofa next to my friend.

He did used to love having a swim round the bath too!

I like the sound of that ...................I always wanted a duck until a friend told me that they're constantly poohing and it's all a bit wet and slippery ------------------ eeeeeeeeugh! In theory I thought it sounded like a good idea ........I'm not sure I'd like the consequences!
