So I was on the bus coming home from work in the rush hour, the bus was packed obviously and this girl and bloke were slagging the situation off, and then started slagging off my town, Notts, what annoyed me more was the fact that they actually came from Notts, and slagged the people from here, saying we are all Chavs and inbreds!. I felt like telling "If you hate it here so much, then why don't you feck off then!!!!" Sorry had to get that off my chest, just wound me up loads.

Are you kidding? I live in London If someone doesn't kick off, get stroppy, pushy or have a rant on the daily commute then it's a bit of a quiet day

Very true Cinds.....  sadly there are rude,  intolerant  people everywhere

Haha I remember when I was at school, the term chav hadn't migrated and changed from that Old London Town, but those types were always referred to as Sharons or Trevs.  As a girl being called a Sharon (unless your name was actually Sharon, and there was loads of them in my year at School) was an insult.

I went to Durham Johnston in case anyone is wondering what school this happened in.

*side note* I'm sure being a Keith also became an insult too.  *shrugs - that's kids*

I agree it's best to bite your tongue but it's not always easy. Last night I was in the West End - the green man said cross ...........i was crossing and a cyclist who'd jumped the red lights nearly ran me down ...............I shouted 'don't the lights apply to you then?' Mr Woo dragged me away into the nearest bar

Bliddy Cyclists. Your hubby did the right thing. Confrontation of these people can result in something dreadful.

Best free entertainment in the capital Saz.

The night buses have an ambience all of their own.

As to Nottingham: I've only ever been there to demonstrate several times many years back.

Town was ok - didn't like the Old Bill there though

Do you mind not generalising? There's a big difference between us countryside cyclists and city cyclists. I have spent the last hour or so cycling through the tees valley, exchanging pleasantries with pedestrians and other cyclists.

Garage Joe

Oi Joe, don't you generalise either!!

My son used to cycle to work and back every day in Wembley when they lived in Marble Arch and the number of times he avoided death or injury because of stupid car/bus/lorry drivers and pedestrians doesn't bear thinking about.

Now they live in a tiny hamlet outside High Wycombe my DIL won't let him cycle to the train station and back as the lanes are so dangerous for cyclists.

No lighting, no pavements and really dangerous rural drivers.

FM

Yes! But if I had done my "Not all car drivers are arseholes!" routine then I would have got it in the neck from all the single occupant women who drive,  their X5/Range Rover or some other inappropriate vehicle, the 300 yards to school.

To be fair  also it doesn't sound very rural around High Wycombe. I'm talking about out in the sticks here.

Garage Joe

Kids being driven to school!! One of my pet hates unless you live miles and miles from aforementioned school or have a disability.

They live in a tiny place called Bledlow Ridge (near the naughty Hellfire Caves) There are about 40 houses in their cul-de;sac but nowt but fields all round

It was the bus driver having a strop this morning

Never been to Nottingham, but I think every town has its chavs.  It does piss me off though when people slag off the town they come from, but it pisses me off more when people come from outside (the town OR the UK) and slag it off; that really makes me see red.  Not much pisses me off more than people coming to the UK and slagging it off.
