I'm sorry to disappoint that the thread isn't going to be about my bush needing trimming or such.

Anyway, what I would like advice on is this.

I bought some beautiful roses to have in the house last week, in honour of Mr Cinds parents.

Now I am no flower expert, my idea of flower arranging is holding the bunch and dropping them in to the vase and hoping for the best.  But about 5 of the rose stems have started sprouting new growth.  I've never seen this on cut roses before, and I was wondering if there was any way I could cut the sprouts in order for them to start rooting so I can plant them?

Any help, advice will be gratefully accepted.

Thank you

Thanks Joe, I have bookmarked and sent it to Mr Cinds too.

We're quite, in that moment you feel when someone has died that everything is significant.  But I chose roses for the house as his mother was Rose, and it seemed fitting to have roses in the house during our mourning of his father.

But I should say we have had roses in our house many time, but never have they sprouted, but it's nice that we can think this time it's significant.

That would be a lovely way to remember him Cinds. My condolences to you and Mr. Cinds x

Thanks Lee, I really am useless when it comes to gardening and stuff like that.

I've just told Mr Cinds your advice, we're garden centre shopping tomorrow.

Cinds when you do pot it up make sure you give it a good old water  put the pot in a food bag and tie it,spray it with water every day,it's important you keep it moist. When you see it starting to sprout little leaves take it from the bag but still make sure to keep it moist.Good luck,I hope they *Take* for you.

In the event this doesn't work Cinds, just buy a plant to plant, if you know what I mean?  Now is the time to order one.

When my M&D had their Golden Anniversary I bought them a rose called Golden Celebration. When my mum died last year he planted one called Remember Me for her.

The supplier that both came from was David Austin Roses. He does more classic styled roses than the currently fashionable ones.

They aren't that expensive and you'll get flowers within a year or so if you can plant it in spring.

Thank you all for the advice.  The point of the roses was that Mr Cinds mothers name was Rose and we chose roses to have in the house as respect to his dads passing. So them sprouting regrowth meant a lot to us.

Anyway, we are going to try to replant the new growths, but if they don't take, I have found this Rose plant, but I will probs buy it anyway.  The Rose is called Danny Boy.
