Thank you - I'm gonna record that. One of my favourite books ever! I wondered when it was gonna be on .
I hope the series does the book justice.
Me too, Soozy!
Thanks for the reminder - I meant to set the V+ for that. Not got around to reading the book yet though
It's a wonderful book, Kaffy

So I've heard, Avalon - it's been on my list of 'should really reads' for years. I'll dowload it to read after the I've watched drama.
I enjoyed it but mostly the bits with Firebrace. Also the recreation of the trenches and blasted no man's land was excellent. The leading actor was disappointing however; he seemed to have only one expression throughout.
I kept thinking of an old Dorothy Parker quote, he "runs the whole gamut of emotions, from A to B"
Wonder what people who've read the book think of this adaptation?
Utter Utter rubbish. Parts of the book didn't make sense, the TV prog made Downton seem plausible.

I didn't think the love story was that well done. They showed the same scene... him gradually raising his gaze to meet hers... too often until it got a bit comical
Oh and there was some horrible kissing in it. Close yer gobs, its not romantic. He looked like a puppy slobbering all over a bone
Teeth and saliva as we say in our house.

Watched it today..gawd it was long winded..the kissing was a bit prolonged and when he was downstairs I thought he was eating her skirt....
I watched it a couple of hours ago and I was bored to tears in parts it was too slow paced and plodded along. Very disappointed but will still watch next weeks.
I love Eddy Redmayne - I think he's a fabby actor but not even he could save this tosh
the emphasis on the romance, isn't how i remember the book.
but that could just be me.
I'm watching my recording .....................I simply adore the book and think they have done a really good job on this.
JB .......the romance was really pivotal (as I remember).
