I enjoyed it but mostly the bits with Firebrace. Also the recreation of the trenches and blasted no man's land was excellent. The leading actor was disappointing however; he seemed to have only one expression throughout.

I kept thinking of an old Dorothy Parker quote, he "runs the whole gamut of emotions, from A to B"

 

Wonder what people who've read the book think of this adaptation?

I didn't think the love story was that well done. They showed the same scene... him gradually raising his gaze to meet hers... too often until it got a bit comical

 

Oh and there was some horrible kissing in it. Close yer gobs, its not romantic. He looked like a puppy slobbering all over a bone
