my younger daughter is visiting france and belgium in February  (school trip) and obviously will need euros, usually when we go to europe i watch the exchange rate for a few months and try to get the best offer, i haven't done that this time because of the instability, sooooooo

how long should i wait?  is the euro secure for the next 7 weeks?  will we get ripped off   i know that will happen!

I think it fluctuates up and down but - it really is 'pence' at a time ..................unless you're buying thousands of pounds worth it may cost you two or three quid more. TBH - I'm not good with money but .....................as it stands at the moment re the Euro I think it varies a few pence each day up and down!

I'm probably wrong but ..................if you need to be buying Euros - you need to buy them - 1 or 2 p .................what the hell?

Euros won't suddenly become worthless as the coins and notes will form the base of a potential new French/Belgium Franc in the interim period while the new notes and coins are being minted.  A 1 Euro coin would be worth, say, 1 Franc in the new currency.  The Euros will then be phased out over months as legal tender rather than days but even if the Euro collapsed tomorrow, there's still no danger of notes and coins being worthless. I wouldn't worry myself.
