Awwwww, Bob Holness of Blockbusters fame has passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 83, after a few strokes made his health deteriorate very quickly last year.

Since we recently got Freeview I've seen quite a few old episodes of Blockbusters on Challenge tv channel and he always came across as a warm person who was genuinely interested in the young people on the show.

I have also being watching this recently Veggie. Got into a bit last year I did 
I love the old quiz shows Cupcake. Whenever I see Blockbusters I really want to see what all those kids became when they got older.
They were such a nice bunch that I wonder what they made of themselves

Me too Veggie. I miss the old 80s ones: it's all reality tv now, and not much quality entertainment. Remember Bullseye. And the likes of Leslie Crowther and Ted Rogers and Brucie? Although Brucie is still about...

Was sad to see this news, made me nostalgic......I remember watching Blockbusters when I came home from school, Bob was like a TV uncle or something, he seemed to have such a warm personality.

RIP Bob! Blockbusters used to be essential viewing,
I used to like how the kids would sometimes gently take the mickey out of Bob and the program but he was always in on the joke as a kind of cheery old uncle.
