It means its now over. Until next year, eh?
To me its means a common focus
A coming together - a time for family and friends ... and giving
I love the Nativity plays the children do at school
The midnight mass
Snow
Presents
To me Xmas aint over until Jan 2nd
.... another example of social control. Everyone seems to s/d and disappear. Try getting a solicitor and you'll see what I mean. Mine is closed until January.
Yep - try to find a plumber on Xmas day if you have a leak
Or an electricain if your oven goes kaputt
it has its downfalls too i guess
^^^ Wot she sed
I love the collective camoraderie < have i spelt that correctly?
Have i spelt the word spelled correctly etc . . . .
Sweet summed it up perfectly. Id only add that for me its like being a child again, everything is wonderful and a bit sentimental. Its the one time of the year you get to tell people you are thinking of them. Plus you get to drink booze for breakfast and nobody turns a blind eye magic

Forget worrying about the spelling, I agree Renton, it is the one day of the year that we are all doing almost the same thing at almost the same time.
Its a shame that TV is not seen so much at the same time any more, gone are the days when we all sat down to watch Morecombe & Wise (or missed it)
Well it doesn't mean all that humbug of religion but never the less, it is a time for giving and quite often the spirit of the season can bring out the best in people - as well as the worst. I didn't do the whole Xmas eve drinking thing this year, which always seems to attract the idiots and often beats the goodwill out of me. So I'm more charitable to my fellow man. A time for reflecting on the past year also.
it means getting fat!!!

Shhhh, I am eating the very last portion of Christmas pudding covered with brandy cream - all in the interests of my family's waistlines you understand. Is there nothing that I wouldn't do for them? I am a true angel
the carols say it all for me from "o come all ye faithful" through "hark the herald angels sing" and "holy night" to "joy to the world" spent with family and loved ones
I think Christmas, first and foremost, is for kids. Its at its best with little ones around and all the innocence and excitement involved.
Now I'm getting on a bit, I find Christmas quite a nostalgic time and slightly sad, or sentimental should I say.
