Did you buy any over Christmas? Tesco ? Asda? M + S ? Other?
Whats your verdict?
I don't like these Marks and Sparks ones at all...horrible, smells like the incense at mass
The cheaper Asda ones were much more pleasant

The only ones I ever buy are yankee candle tarts and those glade (I think) glass jar ones with the pink love hearts on them. The yankee tarts are only ÂĢ1 and I break a wee bit off and use them int he oil burners.....they last ages! I've bought all different scents in them and have had some lovely ones and some not so pleasant ones. I mainly like the pastel coloured ones and hate the food and xmas scented ones
My OH's friend sent him some soya melt (I think?) things for the oil burners aswell from Australia and I decided to first try out the cinnamon one first because it's xmas but I didn't like it. I've got quite a few left though but they're all fruit scents so I'm not sure if I'll like them.
I find that, although they smell quite nice in the shop (especially the Yankee candles), they don't seem to give off much scent when the are actually burning....
Oh I got some yankee candles, just the small ones and burned them this xmas, the really really smelled. They were even strong just out of the wrapper, just on display. Although i did burn them quickly, they were not sitting around a lot.
I also got an airwick or a some such one from tesco (with a plastic christmassy sleeve round it) that was surprisingly good, it still smells now. Ive never been impressed with those ones before but these were great. They have them on sale now for about ÂĢ2.50 in tesco, so im going to get a few extra.

I don't like the jars for that reason Baz, it's why I use the tarts.
I love the fresh linen one in Spring Just the thought of it makes me smile lol.

What are the tarts please Ells?
Apolpgies for the size Baz but that's a tart.....a fruity one at that
I like the ones a size up from the tarts, the ones that are like tall tea lights x
I've bought Asda, Tesco and M + S - pretty much the same - the "red" smelly tealights
- Asda = they smell nice, of berries as they say
- Tesco = they smell in the pack, not so much when then they burn
- M + S Clove and Cinnamon - Maybe its just me, but they smell horrible - a horrible churchy smell, they make me wanna go to confession, then get the hell out Just a pungent smell - but not a nice smell. I'm sorry I bought these as presents.
I love the paler ones, I think they're nice and fresh and light.....the darker ones are a lot more whiffy.

I wouldn't like the M&S ones either rosie, they sound stinky.

Oh right.... thanks Ells Yes, I've seen those... I will try some next time I am at the shop that sells them
I buy Yankee candles and wax tarts. I love the Clean Cotton, Fluffy Towels and Baby Powder scents, as well as lots of others.
I have had a few nice candles from M&S, too - usually the fruit scented ones.
I like the baby powder ones, yogi. I have those im my bedroom. They are lovely and clean smelling.

I like Baby Powder candles in the bedroom too, Gyps.
I'm burning Macintosh Spice in the livingroom tonight.
Yankee candles get good reviews on Amazon too... guess theyre good then

I buy the tartsto use in the burners rather than the candles in the jars.

I buy Yankee candles on line. It's cheaper than the shops.
I can't stand anything like that, they give me a headache, i even have too turn the plug in freshners off after a while for the same reason
I've gone a bit candletastic this Christmas - at one point I had a Yankee cinnamon one, three blackberry tealights, two chocolate candles and a mock Yankee mango one all burning in the same room at the same time
Ohh these M + S Clove + Cinammon tealights they stink....Jaysus!!!
Right I'm burning them all up tonight. If I don't wake up... you know how I died

I'm allergic to most of these smelly things. So even though I lost my sense of smell years ago I can tell if there's one on as I get all snuffly!
The candles/tarts are ok to use.I don't like the plug in varieties,I have a wee budgie and you have to watch their wee lungs.
The tarts when new only need to melt then you blow them out as they can be strong.

I'm a bit like that ............i'm all enthusiastic for the first five or ten minutes and then I find it a bit artificial and oppressive!
I also like plain white chunky candles with no scent,i have a few jars they can burn in with etched colors etc on them. Bleedin' Hugo the Bengal cat however is fascinated by them so I can't burn them when he's around.

Same here.. i love the thought of them, but can't bear the reality.
I like the airwick colour change candles. They smell nice and they can amuse you for hours with their mystical colour change abilities.

I must try those, they sound lovely

Add me to the list too AND especially if they're foodie smells
I've got loads of Jo Malone candles but I never light them (they look pretty enough dotted around the bathrooms etc though). The only scented candles I can just about cope with are plain ones squirted with a bit of my perfume. Obviously you have to spray and wait for them to dry, then light to give off a subtle scent.
I never buy the scented candles ...I do like the simmering granules for the oil burners ..... I like sandalwood and rosewood and if I want to relive my youth..... the patchouli ones do the trick!
I've been out to a good garden centre this afternoon ... they had loads of Yankee candle stuff at 50% off.
I was sooooo good, I didn't buy any
well, I didn't buy any candles ... I bought loads of other stuff - I even got a few Christmas presents for next year

Will you remember though? I know if i bought anything for this time next year i'd either lose them or forget where I put them!
