Who leaves the majority of presents in your house?  Do/Did you tell the kids that most were from you and Santa filled the stocking or the other way round?

I'm just reading another forum and I see that some people tell the kids that Santa filled the sticking and the stuff under the tree was from them.

In my house Santa leaves nearly everything.  Mum and Dad only buy one present for the kids.  They've never questioned why we only buy them one thing at xmas.  I think they see that we buy them all the new clothes, PJs, gifts for their mates etc so know we spend quite a bit and aren't bothered about big presents from us.

Santa brings everything then on xmas eve.  Big presents, wee ones, stocking fillers etc but then they also have the presents from the OH's side of the family who never send them down til xmas eve so they have LOADS when they wake up so I don't even think they are bothered that we don't buy them much at xmas

IF ONLY THEY KNEW!!!!

i was always led to believe (innocent that i am) that parents bought presents and sent them to santa to deliver, but only if i've been good! (this worked well with my children because i could say santa had collected them and noticed if they had been good or bad,  how i loved december - no misbehaving because santa maybe listening! now my grandchildren notice pressies under the tree and i tell them santa hasn't time to visit all the homes (childless) christmas eve and we can leave ours under the tree.

What about presents other relatives give?

My MIL always tells me to put anything she has bought in with 'Santa' gifts but I like the kids to know that people bought them gifts too so I make sure to sit them away from Santa's stuff.

We were like Machel, when we were getting old enough to be slightly suspicious we were told that Mum and Dad sent the presents to Santa to deliver (didn't ever question the inefficiency of this double handling either...)      When I'm delivering presents to kids on Chrimbo day I say that Santa stopped off at my place on the way home and asked me to deliver something he'd forgotten to drop off at their place when he was there.

How lovely Jenstar In our house Santa always brings/brought the presents, until such time as they no longer believed in him..... I think that the few years they do believe in Santa are magical years

no parcels around the tree/fireplace till fast asleep christmas eve or more the case early hours of christmas day

parcels were always labelled as he got older so he knew which ones other peeps had *sent* to santa

I was / am fortunate to have lots of hidey holes and do appreciate some are limited to space so it is difficult then for parcels not to be around

dont have any little believers around anymore so it isnt quite so magical christmas morning

I have no idea what you are talking about... what do you mean other people buy? only santy , only santy *sticks fingers in ears* ONLY SANTY

no really, other people tell santy what they wish for you, thats how santy knows what to get you, and its from their wish, so they have to be thanked

I used to do it so that the stocking & the bulk of their pressies were from Santa.   then there would be a few select bits from us under the tree

however...  I did come to resent Santa for not paying for his own bleedin pressies.

I am chuffed to bits that we are past all that now    & that they know who paid for it all (though I am not past the flour footprints, half eaten carrot, & mince pie & half drunk drinkie.    daughter insists this still happens..  She is 18 FFS!)
