Pick Pockets. You always get them at circus's. Hire some to steal money and jewellery of your guests.

We were also toying with the idea of 'alice in wonderland'. the menus could be written in riddles, and clues about dont be late etc sent out. we could have oversized glasses and plates, a treasure hunt in the garden amongst giant cards (easy to make) to find bottles of poison etc.  We could have a pinata head that we have to 'off with her head'

and rabbits running round the garden

Circus is a great idea Gypsie. Chuck some sawdust on the floor, and make your guests pay through the nose for dry 3 day old popcorn

I recall a dinner party documentary I saw in the dark and distant past. I think it involved the women placing their car keys in a large bowl and the guys picking them out. The rest is a bit of a blur. My memory isn't what it was.

love this idea    can you get a hubbly bubbly and you could all be the caterpillar but no smoking of funny stuff   

you could get a pumpkin and do a Cheshire cat face on it and then light it     

I think Heston Blumenthal did an Alice themed feast on telly - you could get some ideas there too.

if you know anyone with those plastic flamingo lawn ornaments you could  steal  borrow them and play croquet
