One caller sed her Mum wud buy wellies every winter and for the following summer wud cut the wellies down into sandals!!!!

 

That is simply genius

What?! That makes no sense, why not save the wellies for the next winter? Its not like they wear out quickly

Twas me dad's old vests - and I still use one as a pressing cloth and mam used to use one to cook the marrowfat peas in on a Sunday after they'd steapt all night on a Saturday

Trousers were bought l-o-n-g in our house, taken up (always badly) then slowly but surely let down and down  . . . and down as the years passed and we grew up

I could count the "rims of growth" LOL

We definitely live in a throw away society. When i visit my elderly mum i go round chucking out cloths and 'things' she uses and replacing them. She sees nothing wrong in old cloths and reused things.  I must buy a packet of new cloths a month, and within a couple of weeks ive chucked them all out again.  Same with clothes, as soon as they look tired or loose a button, out they go. Probably why I will never be a millionaire
