Singer Jennifer Lopez has been slammed in the US media for using a body double to film her new Fiat advert - which is set in the gritty Bronx neighbourhood of New York where she grew up.

In the ad the 42-year-old hottie harps on about how the edgy borough 'inspires' her. She breathes: "This is my world. This place inspires me."

Later adding "They may be just streets to you, but to me they're a playground."

But the On The Floor singer never set foot in her old hood to film the ad - she languished in Los Angeles and got a body-double to fill in the Bronx driving scenes.

"Her portion was filmed in LA," J.Lo's spokesman Mark Young confirmed on Tuesday.

"I don't see a problem with it," he added. "There are many cases when films are made in the same way."

The endorsement deal for the Fiat 500 has earned J.Lo millions of dollars and hinges on the Latino star's so-called 'street cred'.

But J.Lo she hasn't made a public appearance in The Bronx for years - infuriating people who remember her singing "Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got/Iā€™m still, I'm still, Jenny from the block."

The ad has been branded 'phony' by US websites and bloggers.

I heard that the video for tha crap song was even shot in California, not The Bonx, what a tossbag she is, never liked her, fake as feck.

Wasn't Friends shot in LA too with outside scenes of NYC just taken from stock scenes and slotted in?

You might not like many celebs Poolie but you seem to really hate the women - at least that's how it comes across.

You'd think she committed a serious crime.
