I guess because they are such blatant emotional blackmail!

YES!!!!

And ( quite frankly) completely devoid of common sense and feeling.

The Ad implies everyone who smokes will die from lung cancer. I've known friends who've died from that who never smoked and nor did their partner. Re passive smoking, many like me have had many pets who have eventually died, never has a vet told me or anyone else I know that they died from passive smoking. That people die from cancer is a fact, personally I believe there are many causes and not just cigarettes, just my opinion.

emotional blackmailing gits on my telly...      *gets sweary*

I hate the 'lovely lovely mother' one too..    isn't it for Littlewoods?  The reason I hate it is because the gifts that the 'lovely mother' is buying are bloody ludicrous.  Laptops, DG watches, PS3s, i-phones and other stupid priced gifts.

Most people can barely afford to pay their winter heating bill and mortgage/rent and buy basic food in this recession... it's the worst times of austerity ever, and this advert - promoting spending ÂĢ200 to ÂĢ400 on each gift for dads and uncles and all that, really grinds on my norks!   To some, this ad could be construed as suggesting someone's mother is better because they can afford to spend ÂĢ3K on their kids and husband and extended family for Christmas pressies alone!

People may disagree with me and tell me 'chill; it's only a commercial,' but IMO, it gives a bad impression... spend 1000s on people at Christmas if you want to be a better person...(or a better mum...)

Rant over!  Sorry, but it just aggravates me.

P.s  Don't recall seeing the smoking ones recently... but I am indifferent... don't hate them, don't love them....

The ads or the children?

Both

I hate the John Lewis advert too with the Damien child

I don't think I've seen it.

But one advert featuring a child that always peed me off was that Werthers Originals one where the little boy was sitting at the old mans feet getting sweets off him, the kid never spoke but at the end made this really annoying spoilt bratty 'euhh' noise.

Even more weird is the Werthers one with the little girl talking about the first time she went to the Caramel Emporium - or something like that - it's a bit odd IMO.
