What a bitch! I would love tons of money, but I would like to win it on the lottery, or invent something that made me money quickly, or write a book or a song or a play or something..., but I wouldn't hurt anyone or rip anyone off for money, and I certainly wouldn't kill my own GRAN! Poor old lady.

It would seem that it wasn't so much FOR the money, but to prevent the Grandmother finding out that some of her money had already been stolen by the Granddaughter.
And for her pains the stupid Granddaughter will serve a minimum of 22 years in prison. Meaning she'll be at least 58 before she gets out.
As Mr Fluffy Thing says, the Grandmother would probably have let Graunddaughter off with, at worst, a bit of an earwigging if she'd just told Gran what she'd done and said sorry.
