i was slightly pissed off with next door who had shed loads going off in their garden tonight...she knows i have 4 cats and didn't even bother knocking to tell me so i could make sure they were all in.

fireworks i don't have a problem with...knobhead neighbours i do..

When I was a child, firework night was firework night....one night only.....like Halloween or Christmas day.....or your Birthday....Once it's here celebrate, once it's gone it's over.....

we were just saying the same garage joe, it has been very quiet this year

The display tonight at the rose bowl was  amazing. Not many things make me gasp in amazement but fireworks do. Beautiful things.... I love them

Oh dear

It's the loud bangs

I could start to like them

All noise and they last 30 seconds

Are you sure you're not confusing them with men?

Yes, I love fireworks! Going to our local one at the sports centre across the road tomorrow.  I love them so much my husband proposed to me on Fireworks night.

Mine dumped me! Still love it 'though

I suppose when you've seen the best......... Aka as the Hannover fire work competitions, baroque settings, baroque music, baroque beer and food and yes, pretty fireworks. Trying to access the riverside, trudging through the litter, Teesside architecture, and standing with a bunch of scratters, who are Ok as long as you don't look at 'em directly or show your teeth, and listening to a dodgy soundtrack doesn't do it for me.

You've just reminded me...I'll stick to not bothering Eileen

*very accurate description too*

 Some are just damp squids

As I've said before, sqids are marine creatures and are always damp, The fireworks are squiBs.

Strange here too. !st firework I heard this year was last night (the 4th). Not heard anything today so far.

But I agree, what a waste of money.  They seem happy to spend fortunes on firework displays for anything these days. How tiresome.

In the current climate of cuts, why not cut firework displays and Christmas displays/fancy lights instead of services.

I know they're cheary, but what real chear will some street lights bring when you can't heat your home and you've no longer got a community centre to go to for a bit of company and relief?

I love Bonfire night and fireworks but I am not going to a display this year because I don't want to leave my dog alone. Someone's stuck a firework through the letterbox of the house down the road and burned out the hallway and stairs

If I had my way fireworks would only be available through professional licensed companies, doing organised displays..      the ones the public can buy are pretty shit anyway.

I do love watching a really big really impressive display (like the New Years ones in London)...  or even our town one in the park...     but the random ones people buy to let off in the gardens are crap.

And yeah..  the animals.    We're lucky, first couple of years with the dog were a bit mad..  barking & stuff, but he's really not bothered by them now & the kitten barely raises an eyebrow..   but my Mum's dog hates them & this whole time of year is a nightmare for them now.

In answer to the original question..  no we aren't going to see any.

Dirtyprettygirlthing

We stopped going to organised displays because the one near us seemed to end up with a firework shooting off into the crowd whenever we went. We now just irresponsibly set our own off, no injuries as yet though...
