Did you ever write in to Jim'll fix it when you were a kid, and if so, what did you ask him to "fix" for you?

No but i did a charity run with him when i was about 12 and i chatted with him while running and got a signed photo as well don't know where it is now though he was really nice BTW
When my daughter was at Uni in Leeds she worked PT in a tea shop at Roundhay - he was a regular customer - he used to make lewd and suggestive comments to her all the time - she couldn't stand him and was very disillusioned from the Jim'll Fix It that she knew as a little girl.
Did you ever ask Jim to fix it for you?
No, but I was shy then
yep...i asked him to fix it for me to do a toboggan run...he never fixed it...
Yes I did, and no he didn't Twice!!!!
what did you ask him for. Cinds?
No I didn't ask him to fix anything for me...Much to the amusment of my family, I used to be scared of him when he came on telly, and when he made that bizzare noise in his throat my mum said I used to cry.
Really? I think he was a great son to his old mum and made an awful lot of money for charity (that's great) but .....................I think he may well have been a pervy old man.
Sorry if it offends but that's how I see it.
Totally agree... I met him with my 2 cousins when I was a teenager, and he was a really really nice friendly man. A true gent. There's nothing he wouldn't do for people. He will be missed. R.I.P. Jim
I also wrote in to him twice no reply either
*now i wonder if my mum saved money on the stamp*
I have to say though he always seemed a bit strange to me, i remember that louis theroux documentary with him a few years back. It would not surprise me at all if he was a pervy old man.
i wrote and asked Jim'll if he could fix it for me to have a go in the red arrows while they were flying a display
didnt hear anything back at all
in the light of recent events it certainly wouldnt get past H&S nowadays unfortunately

R.I.P Jim. Seems like he was a very popular, and well-loved man. I saw lots of people interviewed who knew him, and they didn't have a bad word to say about him.
What a blast from the past. Jim'll fix it.

I am too young to remember it.

And again today . How very tragic ............it must be a job they all dream of - so sad.
I wrote to him almost every week for about 2 years in the mid 70's because I wanted to meet the Bay City Rollers.
He never replied and never fixed it for me.
I did write to John Craven though around the same time really praising a programme he did on the BCRs and got a lovely reply from his assistant and then one from him with signed photos and various goodies.
Bet if John Craven was fixing it instead of Newsrounding it I'd have got on and met them

First time I asked him to fix it for me to ride a pony, I drew a picture and everything I was devastated when he didn't reply, took me back to when I drew a picture for Prince Philip and put my phone number on it, did he ever call? Did he heckers like!
Second time I was being all selfless and asking him to fix it for something for my eldest sister. Bear in mind I was only 5 and had no idea what I was actually asking him to fix. I wrote and asked him to fix it for her to sleep with Patrick Duffy. Obviously this never got fixed.
