Soozy, she really had a great day....some of the people she saw today she hadnt seen in 30-40 years I think the only negative, if there is one, is that she couldnt spend longer with some of her old friends...you know what its like at family dos, you never get to talk to everyone for long...but she said to me as I was leaving that she would die happy now she has seen everyone again, Between me and you, I think she has at least another ten years left in her yet, but Im just happy knowing we have kinda done all we can to make her happy while she is still with us if you know what I mean

The hand reaching out, a beautiful picture of a smile between generations.

She is great for 90, I'm well proud!! I think she is like super gran or something, she didnt take her driving test til she was 70!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and passed first time!!! I kid you not! and then about a month after her passing her test got done for speeding (doing a 40 in a 30 ) shes ace!

Im dead glad the cakes were a success, wish I could have gone, but I had to work

I never want to look at a lemon or a strawberry for a while though

Zazzs nan is amazing. He takes the mick out of her, likes shes dead old on here, but shes really not. She still lives in her lovely own house, with her cleaner and her gardener. She drives, she has a better social life than me She goes to clubs, lunches, groups every day nearly (she goes to glee club , i want to go to glee club ), she goes off on trips and holidays.

Shes so with it, It sounds like your slightly humouring her when you say "shes good for her age" but she really is,shes good for any age. She is completely switched on, theres no slowing down AT ALL, shes as sharp as a button, its like talking to someone half her age. Even the things she enjoys, she likes alan carr for example

She really is inspirational, I hope im like her when im 90.

I think her secret is keeping busy and involved, don't you?

Gyps, the cakes look GORgeous!!

zazz, what'd you end up doing for a gift?

well, nothing as yet.... she didnt want to do the helicopter ride we looked into, nor did she want to go to london for a show or owt, sooooooo me and the Gyps are going to take her shopping and out for a slap up meal and spend time with her she had the cupcakes and some flowers from us yesterday, and done the whole " I dont want anything other than you to be happy" speech, but we are ignoring that and shall spoil her really soon!!

I think you are right too, its the keeping busy and being a stubborn old bird that keeps her going

zazz

I agree, lori I have met one or two really inspirational old people in my time and all of them are super active. I met one woman who was 80 and had just climbed her first mountain she looked about 60 at the most. It was back when i worked in the opticians when i was younger. She had decided it was time for her FIRST eye test. She left without needing glasses as well

Another woman i know, is in her mid 80s and is a regular at the college adult learning courses. I taught her bellydancing for a while she goes to yoga, shes well clued up on all the internet, she attends all the courses shes brilliant.

It was my sons 30th yesterday - I bought him the 'Indoor Sky Diving Experience' as one of his gifts. He is very excited!

Incidentally well done Gyps on those beautiful cakes - if they tasted half as good as they looked they must have been very special!

the cakes tasted even better than they looked...the lemon ones were my favourites! lemon sponge, with lemon curd in the middle, and lemon frosting...gutted I didnt keep any aside now...An old uncle who is now in a home took a box back to the nurses which was kinda sweet!!
