has anyone ever used this type of medication before? I've been taking the tablets for a week now and I don't feel any less like smoking at all. I thought they worked by blocking the nicotine receptors and making smoking less enjoyable My stopping smoking day was going to be tomorrow - but I don't think I'd manage an hour at this rate.

Smoking was mind over matter for me Hoochie. You've just got to lay the law down to yourself
Having said that I can't get enough of the 4mg. gum I used to get off
It's a personal challenge - you can do it!
Velvet the last time I stopped using the 4mg gum and just became addicted to that instead!.... and still am along with the cigarettes!
I had hoped this time to take nicotine out of the equation - but I can't see me doing too well at this rate I don't seem to be feeling any effects from these tablets at all
I've been on the 2mg gum for over twenty years ...........it's as expensive as smoking but ...........hey ho!
Stick with the gum Hoochie
If I got there you can!
And I was into the Miles Davis fags too
Hoochie, hubby gave up smoking in May, using Champix.
How long have you been taking the tablets for, because you may be trying to quit too quickly? Hubby was on the tabs for a couple of weeks, gradually reducing the number of cigs, before he actually gave up. And he continued taking the tabs for a few weeks after he quit, too.
Your words are inspiring Velvet - thanks for the good vibes
I think it is going to have to be with gum if these tablets don't become magically effective overnight!
Hoochie, nothing will work until you've told your brain that you want to stop. I stopped 17 months ago after trying I don't know how many times. I did see somebody for a few weeks; the first visit she took my intake of carbon monoxcide and again the second visit. It had already dropped to normal pedestrian level. That really helped convince me to carry on. I still dream that I smoke, but I tell myself in the dream that it's just a dream.

Oh thanks for replying Yogi Tomorrow will be day 8 for me ......the first day taking blue ones. From your husband's experience maybe I should wait a few more days. On the guide it did say give up from Day 8 onwards maybe i took it a bit too literally

Give yourself another few days.

Go for it Hoochie
If you don't go down the path of nicotine replacement you'll be over your addiction to it in about three weeks though by the end of week two, you'll hardly notice them anyway
The thing you'll have to watch out for is eating though, cos the pangs are just like hunger.
Best of luck though
Cologne you are totally right about the big thing being if you actually want to - I do - but I had it in my mind I'd do it using these tablets ..... I'm a bit thrown by having to think about maybe doing it a different way.
Well done to you and Soozy though - it's always good to know it is achievable!

Don't even talk about the weight thing!!!
Thank you though muf!
I used Champix and the first week was fine ,no cravings .When it came to the second week and I had to take the two tablets I had mad ,horrific dreams I then read about Champix and decided it was not for me.I do believe there is a class action in the USA aginst Champix.
I then went on the inhalators and they were free(Loyds chemist) you sign up they then take your carbonmonoxide reading before they issue the prescription.I went for twelve weeks and I havnt smoked since that was 3 years ago this October the 8th.
Now I'm scared! But thanks for that erin - I had no idea!
I'll have to put some thought into this now
Well done you though! 5 days until your year!
Hoochie when I went back to my Doctor and told him about the Champix he got my record up on screen and said I hadnt been prescribed it !
So I have held on to the little folder that they came in .

hoochie, i think the only way anyone can stop smoking is a determination that you will.
i used to smoke 20 a day, then i gave up, i removed myself from the situations where is used to smoke, like after dinner, or with my coffee in the morning, and make myself do some thing else instead.
and quite honestly after a couple of days, it gets easier because the nicotine only stays in the body for 48 hours i think, then its just breaking the habit.
and refer to yourself as a non-smoker, if anyone offers you a fag, says ' no thanks, i dont smoke'
its amazing how positive that makes you feel.
