What a waste.
I know Scotty
Loved him in the eighties.
He was a talent to be reckoned with velvet.
The slight comfort I can take from this is, he seems quite content in his own little world.
Yep
Who are we to judge?
Whatever happened to him?
We used to follow the boxing late seventies early eighties - I had John Mugabe to dinner the week after his scrap with Marvin Hagler - he smoked like a chimney and drank us out of house and home ................how good would he have been if he took it seriously?

I'm not name dropping but .............Ccornelius Boza Edwards was/is a really good friens, He's in Vegas as a trainer/promoter now and since his adoptive father died about five years ago we've kinda lost touch. We adopted his adoptive father as an honouary grandad - we loved him dearly. There were lots of contacts in the boxing world!
I liked Kirkland. A one off character, used to train on spliff apparently!

I used to watch Cornelius back in the day; great amateur boxer too And John was known as the 'Beast' Saw him fight a few times too.
As for Kirkland...immense talent. Didn't have the temperament though.
Drove Dennie Mancini to distraction at times. Bloody shame really.
Saw him get clattered by Colin Jones twice (Wembley & Albert Hall).
He could stink the place out or make your hair stand on end. No middle with him.
Wow Cosi!
You're right

Nicky Witshire, Duke McKenzie? those were the days! I used to work eith Dukes Dad!
Wow Cosi!

I know my onions, Velvet
He reminded me of a smaller Billy Knight (in attitude at least). Sort of their own worst enemies. They'd turn up at the Beckett and be a bit obnoxious but still get respect and the choice of sparring partners suited for their next bout....but they didn't always return the compliment.
Not what you'd call popular, I'm afraid.

Aye! And Clinton McKenzie, Sylvester Mittee - loads of good amateurs who turned pro and did well.

You not managed to unearth anything about him at all, Soozy?
If you like, next weekend I can ask a few people who may well know.
I hate it when they just seem to disappear into the ether.

Actually Cosi I really would like that. I went to Jack Edwards funeral a few years ago and was surprised he wasn't there (actually I was heartbroken that it was such a small affair) he was a lovely man. I'd really love to know more!
Hand on heart, Soozy, I'll ask for you.
I can still remember the night that he got beaten by Jimmy Cable.
Really was an off night for Nick; odds on favourite at the start too.
Typical Cable...he just sneaked around and stole the 'fight' - if you could call it fighting.
(I never knew Jack Edwards, btw)

Cheers cosi - that would be great
