and I am really struggling with what to do in the way of a gift! I am keeping my eyes peeled on group on for helicopter flights, and hot air balloon flights, decent hotel breaks and any other things that I think maybe "suitable" for her...I have also looked at John Barrowman tour tickets...though I dont really know who would want to go with her

Any of you have any ideas on what to get an old girl who has most things...bit of a nightmare she is....

Hmmm...we are having a family get together next weekend, a reasonably big tea party, as in, we have hired a venue...and I managed to get that day off work...but, you know, I wanna get her something pretty "special" to mark the occasion, 90 is a pretty good achievement innit!! but you have a point, maybe I could get/plan something me and her could do together hmmmmm!!

I took my mum on a day trip on the Orient Express for her 80th birthday.  It cost quite a lot and took me ages to pay for, but it really was worth every penny.  I thought that it woudl be full of hooray henries and I would feel that it was grossly overpriced, but everyone else was like us - ordinary people celebrating a special event.  The attention to detail was wonderful, the staff were amazing, and the food was gorgeous.  Plus being a train, it's easier if your nan isn't quite as good on her feet as she used to be...

I'd love to do something like that but I can't believe how expensive it is
