When I first moved in with Mr Cinds his house was a nightmare of 'things he might need in the future'. When we bought a house together and moved (a few months later) about 95% of his stored stuff went the journey.
NOW, we have the factory where we run our business from, and he has built a kind of mezzanine level above our offices and store all his/our crap there. Plus side, it's not in the house any more.
OMG 
I have a click shut plastic box for all the pens, and a click shut plastic box for all the usb, camera, phone etc leads (cable tied of course) nestled happily in their own plastic top drawer of the new plastic storage drawer unit that nestles just under the stairs.... and thats only the start
