Not a gambler but I think on past times I've been told here how it works, it looks like Heavens staying....

If you bet on Rebecca, you will only get 2 pounds back for every 9 you put on. If you back Heaven, you will get 7 pounds for every 2 you put on.

I know how the odds work but I can`t explain.

So if you put £10 on Heaven, and she got evicted, you would get £70 back?

If you put 2 on you would get 7 back, so if you put 10 on you would get 35 back (plus your stake, I think). We really need Velvet or Joe here.

Bet £9 you only get £2 plus your stake (£9)... if you double your bet to £18 you only get another £4.

 

Same with Heaven, bet £2 and you get £7 back plus your stake.

 

 

So the bookies think Rebeckah is almost certain to go... I believe that's how it works anyway.

 

 

 

Say it's 16/4 - the number 4 is the money you put on the bet and the 16 is the number you win back.

No, you're right.  It's a proportionate thing: the easiest way to work it out is to use the system they have on the continent, where all odds are based against 1, so 7/2 is equivalent to 7 divided by 2 = 3.5 to 1 =  £3.5 for every £1 that to put onto Heaven 

 

If you put £1 on Rebeckah you would get (2 divided by 9 = 0.22 to 1) 22p back.  Plus your initial stake of £1 stake of course.

I should point out that your selection needs to, be evicted/win/score for you to be paid out!

Divide the 1st number by the 2nd number. The one who ends up closest to zero is the favourite.

 

e.g. Here we have Rebekah on 2/9 and Heaven on 7/2

 

2 divided by 9 = 0.2

7 divided by 2 - 3.5

 

Rebekah is closest to 0, therefore she is the favourite.

 

Also:-

        If Rebekah is evicted then you win 0.2 x your bet

        While if Heaven gets evicted you win 3.5 x your bet

 

In the parlance we say that Rebekah has the shorter odds.

The shorter the odds, the smaller the amount of money that would be won, pound for pound, on your bet.

 

A £10 bet on each would see a win of £2 for Rebekah and a win of £35 for Heaven.

Heaven's around 6/1 and drifting.
