Daughter had her's done about 11 days ago and has been cleaning it and spraying it was an antibactiral spray and it looks clean and isn't hurting her but she has a red ring all the way round the top and bottom if it, i've all always though to mean infection, i'm going too ring the doctors tomorrow but what do you think?

It did look horrible when she had it first done (against my advice) and she bled loads

my daughter had hers done a couple of years ago...    Do they have an aftercare service at the shop she had it done at?   If so (& if they are a good outfit they should do)..  then I suggest she go in & let them have a look at it for her tomorrow.

My daughter had a few problems with hers initially, and it used to get caught on the waistband of her school skirt so as soon as she possibly could she changed the barbell thing to one of the flexi retainers you can get (sometimes used to keep the piercing viable during pregnancy)

she went back to the shop on the same day as she had it done cause of how much blood she lost, it's not in our area so not easy too get back too, she's looked on their website and there are loads of unhappy customers, she'll have too go to the doctors and get it checked, with there being a complete circle of red around the stud that it made me think it might be infected

It's not unusual for some pus to come out of the pierced site for a couple of days but it shouldn't be red and sore.  If it is, it's likely it's become infected (whether by them not using sterile equipment or just an unfortunate case).

She may need antibiotics to help clear it.  If this doesn't work after she's seen her doctor, she may have to take it out altogether.  If others are complaining, it could be down to a lack of hygiene on their part

I had mine done about 15 years ago and it was slightly sore the first few days but it's important to keep cleaning it and if possible twist the ring - I use slightly diluted TCP or Dettol to keep mine clean.

I hope it clears up soon

Most people I know have had pain with belly button piercings. Some times when piercings get infected it's not the fault of the piercing but bad hygiene - not suggesting mini Aims has bad hygiene though Aimee, just saying.

I won't tell you the story of a mate of mine who did piercings and the guy who got an infected todger

i've just had another look at it and it doesn't look that bad, she is the cleaniest person i know (i do the laundry so i should know)  and she has done everything they told her too do, i've looked on lone and some say it may just be a reaction to the actual bar, daughter say's she will take it out if it doesn't heal before she goes too college in Sept
