Big Brother's Channel 5 comeback is poised for a royal twist after it emerged the Duchess of York is being courted to appear in a 'six figure' deal.

Sarah Ferguson big brother Sarah Ferguson: Set for Channel 5's Big Brother?

Sarah Ferguson has been made the lucrative offer by the broadcaster, sources have said, as it hopes to resurrect the reality show following its move from Channel 4.

The 51-year-old, who cleared a £2million debt earlier this year, is high on the shortlist for celebrity guests, a source told Metro.

So far, show executives are said to have nailed ‘eight of the 11’ famous faces set to kick off the new series next month and these include three ‘big’ American names.

‘They are offering big appearance fees this year to try and draft in some massive names,’ added the mole.

New host Brian Dowling, who revealed he wanted Britney Spears to take part, has also hinted that Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond is aiming high.

The new format is set to begin with a three-week celebrity version before rolling into eight weeks of unknown housemates.

Fergie’s appearance would turn royal heads after she was caught in a tabloid sting last year asking an undercover journalist for £500,000 for access to her ex, Prince Andrew. Her agent declined to comment on the Big Brother link.

‘It is too early to confirm who will be taking part in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother,’ a spokesman for the channel said. ‘Casting execs are currently looking some really exciting names.

I hope this is a hoax. Other housemates will inevitably pussyfoot around her, as will the production company.  I can't stand the woman.  She ties with Geri bloody Halliwell for endless self centred psycho-babble and self centred obsession.  However, at least Ginger Spice hasn't free-loaded her way through her entire adult life.

I think she gets a bit of a bad rap. I don't mind her. Yes she's made mistakes and is money hungry, but i think if she went on CBB a lot of people would be 'pleasently' surprised by her.

I'm sure she'd get editing favours to ensure that was perceived to be the case.

Good grief that woman has absolutely no class at all.. only saddo chavvie wannabees would actually go on that show surely?

was fun to point and laugh at the idiots from this side of the screen much as people can point and laugh at the JK type people but seriously, it turned into a home for the worst sort of people ever after the first couple of series..

apologies to people who may have auditioned but seriously it is a show for the inhabitants of pitsville nowadays  ..

I've auditioned for Big Brother twice. For BB6 and BB8.

My audition for BB6 was the standard affair, i went up to London, on a saturday, and queued along with all the other hopefuls.  I fluffed it up pretty bad, the nerves got to me and i was instantly rejected.  I felt completely deflated by it and spent the rest of the day, in London, in a foul mood.  The next day, Sunday, I went back to audition.  I got picked into a group of 8...along with the most horrendous housemate of all time...Craig Coates....and a really fit girl who i recognised from another TV show.

I gave my spill, I went to town on myself, made everyone laugh, got into some intelligent debates..all the focus was on me.  Craig was next up, he basically said he was a bitch, the fit girl followed; she said that if she was picked she would enter the house in a bikini.

Both of them went through to the next round (Craig obviously got on the show) and I was rejected. I got the train home, not feeling annoyed or anything, but just amazed at what happened.

Anyway, a couple of years went by and I thought I would try again. As this time you could post auditions online, which would save me the bother of travelling to London.  A few weeks later I got a phone call to say i had been 'successful' in moving onto the next round and got invited to an interview.  Went to the interview and filled out a REALLY long application, then went home. Got another phone call a week later saying i had made it to the Final 100 and was called back for a further interview.  Even though this traveling was eaten into my student funds I kept telling myself that this was a once in a lifetime experience, so i went to the 2nd interview and had to fill out pretty much the same application.

What followed was an experience that made me feel stupid, embarrassed and slightly cheated, which really put me off wanting to ever audition for Big Brother again.

The weird thing is though, is that I generally wanted to do BB for the experience.  The whole process of the game really intrigued me such as nominating people you don't like , plus all the tasks and twists were something i really wanted to be part of.

The whole 'fame' never interested me whatsoever. I realised that I may have been recognised (for good or bad) for a couple of weeks after appearing on the show, but as long as i didn't milk it the interest in me would have disappeared very quickly, which is what I would have wanted.

Oh and I also wanted to go on Big Brother to win the money.

Aww Rawky. .I was makng a massive generalisation in my post... and you probably didn't get in cos you were normal unlike those that did get in..  I think you lucked out tbh... who'd want 'I was in BB' on their CV and then expect to be taken seriously in the future, unless they were going into the media where it wouldn't matter quite so much.. but again my massive generalisation is based more on the later BB's and the types they attracted..

Shipwrecked was a much better show for that sort of experience. . and yep they were probably wannabees too but it was, well seemed to be,  a bit more classier..

to be honest, when I have seen the queues of people trying to get on BB an awful lot look bluddy horrendous and act bluddy horrendously too..  I know I am being a snob and a hypocrite here  especially as I still liked to watch and point and laugh at the rabble in the house
