So . . . my NORTON doo-dah runs out tonight
Not keen to use it again as it has caused me problems in the past
AND its twice as expensive as . . . McAFEE
Can anyone advise me of a site they have used to downlaod McAFEE?
Do you recommend it?

Norton, hands down! wouldn't trust any other except for Avast AV. (I think they now do firewall too, but not sure how that stands up)
Norton was sposed to be hungry a while ago, I think they've streamlined it a lot and it's not as hungry as it used to be
Hungry?
Talk proper England like wot I does!!!
Oh FFS! Resource hungry! (People claim it to slow your system down) but that's not the case nowadays
Ok ok - chillax
I'm not up to speed with techno speak
But wot about the cost - it appears twice as expensive as McAfee
I've only ever used Norton .............no complaints - twice recently it has jumped in and blocked at crucial times. I would give the thumbs up to Norton - you have to speak as you find!
McAfee, Norton is shit Dunno about downloads - do McAfee not have a website?

You pay for what you get though I think. There's deals to be done
I thought they were about the same price for comparable products! Currently Norton ÂĢ22, McAffee ÂĢ24 at a certain leading internet-based retailer. A certain high street catalogue based retailer has Norton for a similar price. The thing about Norton and McAfee is they are often discounted to almost half their claimed retail price when on offer, which is quite often.
The best place to download McAfee is at the McAfee site, although you'd be mad to do so, as it's priced at over ÂĢ50 compared to its box price of ÂĢ24 where I mentioned above.

I've had no problems with Norton on my main newest PC running Windows 7 but loads previously on an older PC and loads currently on that same PC which runs XP. I'd sooner think it's the PC rather than Norton. Difficult to say whether it's the software being just not up to the job for PC or the PC being old and beyond redemption after numerous updates and software changes.
I have Avira free anti virus.
Thank you for your views
Its interesting that the views vary soooo widely
As we spoke my Norton turned off
I had no option but to renew immediately
Sometimes it good to have your hand forced i guess
A bit like going to the chemist and finding Head n shoulders OR Vosene - and nothing else
What about a firewall though Erin?

I've not had any dealings with it for a long time, but both (support) places I've worked where staff get new laptops with Norton as standard - Norton is pretty much the first thing that goes

And I'm working on Vista and Norton (and mostly IE) I haven't had a problem with it
See, we all have our favourites. I think it depends what other stuff you have on your pooter
Definitely no to Norton. It invades, blocks, stops, annoys. Can't think of a worse provider, apart from McAfee possibly.
