Why do people still allow themselves to be robbed blind by sky TV with these "special events packages" on sky?

Surely if you subscribe to sky television you shouldn't have to shell out another fee for a boxing bout or any sporting event,  you pay enough each month for your regular sky tv so wshy pay even more on top of that....it's insane.

I do feel that those who are unhappy with sky after not being able to watch the David Haye fight tonight due to technical issues deserve what they got...they shouldn't have been so foolish to pay this rip off fee in the first place.

If we all refuse to pay for pay per view events this rip off tv with go away and we can watch all these sky sports events on the usual channels.

Absolutely could not agree more Vid...I think Sky are a roaring great rip off.  My hubby was tempted by a sky 'offer' the other week... he is quite easily led, bless him....  'Look' he said: 'twenty quid a month for the tv and the internet and the phone!!!'   And I'm like 'yeah right... sure it is.....'  No WAY would it be that cheap.  We had it for a couple of years when we had been getting hacked off with telewest (now virgin) and it was costing us about ÂĢ100 a month (and more sometimes,) in total...

Anyway, when I scanned the smallprint in the paper with a magnifying glass (which I needed as the writing was SOOOOOO small..; ) it said 'after 3 months THIS fee applies and after 4 months THIS fee applies, (and so on and so on,) and before you know it, it's triple what they quoted, and there's connection fees and other stuff to purchase and line rental after so many weeks, and basically it was all a con!

We may have had our moments with cable pissing us off, (they're now virgin; ) but in the 22 years we have had cable, we have not found anyone better or cheaper.  ÂĢ50 month for the tv and phone (including limited landline calls which is invaluable as me and my family and friends can't half gabble!)  and the internet for 4 of us..  No sport channels but then we don;t want them...

And yes Vid, to pay an extra tenner when you're already paying for the sports is a piss take.

I have Sky, didnt pay for the boxing but i have done for other things. The boxing came on here , as my sister paid for it.(I think it was a late booking problem Sky had)
I dont mind paying for it, as its a lot cheaper than actually going to the event itself. Whether or not, it should come free with the package, well thats another story . Personally i dont mind. Sorry but my opinion x

PPV's are what they are!

I used to hate Sky more than any other company...   but had no other real option, as we don't have cable in our village  (I had cable at my old house, and loved it - customer service was fab, price was fair).

I do think the have got better recently though...  and I wouldn't go with virgin even if I could... we have Virgin Broadband and after years of being very happy with it... its all gone downhill along in recent months..  including their customer service.   Then Growly posted on here about how Virgin treated her when her brother was taken seriously ill abroad...   so, suddenly Sky aren't looking so bad anymore

One thing I do wish is that there would be an option to just add a particular sport to your package, at lower cost.    My boy loves WWE..   but I can't justify getting Sky Sports just for 2 programmes a week.    He watches them on youtube.. so he doesn't go without.  Plus if he's behaved we do pay for the WWE PPV events for him.

Son watched in in the pub - and a couple of beers with his mates watching the fight cost less than the 20 notes Murdochs Mafia wanted to view the fight.

I won't have Sky or any publication associated with Murdoch in my house - he is absolute scum. Why anyone is surprised that they pay him for tv and then he charges them more for certain events I don't know.

He's a tax avoiding crook
