I also like Claudine Erinp...ooooh and Claudia...is Claudia a bit old sounding?

How would you pronounce Esme?  Is it Aysme?  I think that's a grower   I didn't like it when I first read it, but I do like it now.

Freya has been nicked by my sis in law for her daughter lol, Lucy is lovely, but that's been nicked by my friend lol....everyone's nicked all the good names

I'm always really like  with Irish spellings. It seems to me it must be an incredibly difficult language to learn. Can you speak Irish (is it) Lee?

it is a bit confusing, but there are rules that make it easy to follow.  For example a fat vowel will always follow a fat vowel after a consonant.  So an A and an O will follow an A and an O....an I and an E will always follow an I and an E...so for example Deireadh (meaning end)  you'll see the i follows the e after the r...and adhmaid (meaning wood) the a follows the a.  There are exceptions, but not many.

The H is the difficult, one it changes everything.  It changes a B to a V (we don't have a V in Irish, or a K), makes most other consonants silent.

Actually it is all a bit complicated, but it does make sense in my head

Esme is pronounced Esmay or I have heard it as Esmee

Oh God Temps! I had this x 2 nearly three years ago. The list went from about 30 at 6 months gestation to about 10 when they were a day old. One of them is a Violet (after my grandmother....was in two minds until she suckled and it reminded me of Nana without her teeth in) and hubby named the other one Leila (loosely based on that Eric Clapton song that he sings a version of at his rugby club). They somehow fit their names now, V is quite girly and flowery and L has a kind of 'Rock Chick' potential.

edit: just to add, hopefully not a groupie type rock chick, but who knows at this stage?

Like Soozy says, I have heard Esme pronounced as Esmay & Esmee.    My friends daughter is an Esmay.     It is a grower innit

And yeah..     Freya got nicked by one of my friends too...  (though I don't think it would have suited Alfie that much...   I only started considering it when I was expecting him)

If it IS a bit old sounding..   then you can guarantee that in 5-10 years it will be massively popular.

There is a Claudine & a Claudia & a Claud  (Girl/GIrl/Boy Triplets) in the Sookie Stackhouse (true blood) books.. (they are Faeries)    so there is a distinct possibility these names will be all the rage in the next few years.

Esmay....Esmay...oh I like it the more I hear it...Evie I like but not mad about...Violet is lovely Suzy...but Leila is a gorgeous name   I'm gonna put them both the suggestion pile   What is it about girl's names?  Boys names are so simple....but girls names I don't envy you having to come up with 2 Suzy

So that's Ailsa....Esme...Claudine...Claudia...Violet and Leila

Thank you Marge
