I couldn't believe it when I read it - and it won't take the others long to raise theirs the same

I'm fed up of being a cash cow for foreign owned companies whilst our Government sit back and twiddle their thumbs - even the proposed nuclear electric plants are gonna be run by the French.

What exactly has opening the energy industry to 'competition' got the ordinary person on the street?  Nothing - we can't even switch to a cheaper supplier because they are all lining their pockets with the same rates

Centrica who own British Gas warned a month ago that gas and electricity prices were likely to be increased, and I think you are right that the other suppliers will announce similar increases in the next few weeks. OFGEN now require all power suppliers to give their customers at least 30 days notice of any increase.

Indeed, well that's 30+ years of the Thatcherite consensus for you. The Tories shouldn't have flogged them off to pay for mass unemployment and Labour (IIRC) shouldn't have let foreigners buy large stakes.  That's this country for you.  It's hard to believe it can be in so much debt when both the Tories and Labour seemingly have tried so hard to keep the coffers full - at the long term detriment to the ordinary British citizen.

This is going to have a huge impact on everyone.  Everything from fuel, food, insurance etc is bad enough, but we can (to some extent) do something about those.  In a harsh Scottish winter (like the last two) wearing an extra sweater just wouldn't do it!  And people on fixed incomes are going to feel it more than most.

When are we going to rebel????

We need a Che Guavara of summat.  (Sp?)
