I've just remembered why 
I got it stuck in a tin of baked beans when I was 6 - yes an eebil baked beans can that hadn't been opened all the way round and I closed it on my finger then wriggled and pulled it to get it off and it ripped my ligaments and tendons etc., and my finger doesn't bend at the top any more so now it's 2cm shorter
