I agree. It's taken a bit out of her, but she's had the kittens, she's a great mum and I hope I've avoided problems in her future life, but that's it. I don't want her to go through it again. I just want to say thanks again for the food advice, they're all little healthy things and driving me mad.

I cried when a couple of my kittens had to go to a new home, but they soon settled in.

Will you be able to enquire about him? Has he gone to someone you keep in touch with?

Thanks ev and yogi. . Yes, she's my best friend down here and I will be able to see him when I can drive over. She called me about an hour ago. He's been eating mackrel and had settled on her lap, hissed and growled at her dog and got on with her other cats.

Sounds like he has made himself right at home Cologne

I'll be alright, but in the moment I have to listen to Mutley calling for him which breaks my heart. I know she'll get over it soon enough (might even be relieved, he's huge ), it's just not nice to see.

I know.... it's horrid isn't it..... but like you say, she will soon get used to it....

ahh, that's great! Didn't realise there was a chance she might be pregnant again, lucky escape there !

She didn't behave like last time, so I didn't think she was, but there was an outside chance. She's come home bedeckt in a tiny collar decorated with pink paws. She hates it.

That's nice

Thanks soozy. I can't make out what she does right now, but I'm very happy she doesn't have to be pregnant again.

My daughter has just called in - overnight, at her work place (oil refinery) some kittens were born  in the tool store ......................the mother abandoned them when the workers came in this morning. The guys spent the day trying to coax the mother back with tuna and cat treats but - she's gone. They rang the blue cross who advised them to take the kitties in to them. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww - I saw the pics - they were sooooooooooo cute. I hope they survive but - the poor mum!

That's so sad. Somebody will need a lot of patience and stamina to feed the wee ones every four hours.

My daughter's cat had three kittens a week after mine and about a week into it, she came down in the morning and one of the kittens was lying dead in the middle of the sitting room. I did an experiment with mine and took one of my kittens out and left it on the floor. Mutley was only concerned about the kittens in the basket. I think if they left the kittens where they were, the mum would have come back. Don't know, but I just seem to remember something about feral animals.

I thought the same ...............I said that they should have left them - the thing is they were so young and needy. I'm guessing the Blue Cross know what they're doing - hope so anyway.

I'm sure they do. There will be a few volunteers to take them on.
