We can have faith about lots of things in life that has not happened yet all religions are something that we are asked to believe in that has already happened without any proof I do not know if it is the same, but it could mean the same depends on how you would say it  like ..I have faith in my religion..I dont know to be honest 

I would say faith is the belief , and religion is the following, worshipping and celebration of that belief.

Yes, there is a difference.

Faith is required, if you have religious beliefs, but you can have faith in other things/people.

For example, I have faith in my husband, but it doesn't involve worshipping.

I think the short answer is yes, most definitely....

I would say yes too.  I am a woman of faith but do not like to be described as religious, it has connotations of some fanatic.

I would say no not in the slightest but I believe in a God who loves us all (yes all of us no matter which colour, creed, good, bad, successful in life or down and out).

The bit in brackets is not what I would reply of course but is what I believe (and I would go further I know to be true).

Thanks squiggle for replying... i wonder if the word..religious , could mean a different way in different parts of the world and the UK .. if i am asked that here in Scotland, it can usually mean..are you Catholic or Protestant, but if asked in general if i am religious, i say yes , because i do believe . It is interesting how we all interpret things differently , but essentially believe the same under a different name  It is a huge issue ... is it not .x

Yes Skylark in an ideal world we could reply 'yes' to being religious but in my part of the world it has been hijacked to a certain extent to be synonymous with the type of nutter who recently announced (purely under his own bat seemingly without reference to The Almighty) the Second Coming

There is most definitely a difference between faith and religion I think.

Being 'religious' means you believe in a god, or gods, or some kind of spiritual power.

Some people prefer the word 'spiritual', maybe because they don't follow an organised religion, but it's all the same thing.

Having faith, however, is not limited to those who have a faith in god/gods/spaghetti monsters. 

I think faith is subjective, whilst religion is objective; it has rules and we may or may not adhere to them. Faith has a wider range. Of course science is objective as well, so I'm probably talking carp.
