The French Open starts tomorrow.

On Freeview, there is live coverage on channel 301 generally from 10 am to 7 pm on most days, subject to other events such as next weekend's GP. There is also highlights on BBC2 but late night. I don't know whether Andy Murray's matches will get shown live on BBC1 or 2.

In the first round Andy Murray is drawn against Eric Prodon (ranked 118) of France. No other British men in the singles.

In the women's singles:

Anne Keovathong (ranked 108) is drawn against Vesna Dolents (ranked 101) of Russia

Elena Baltacha (ranked 83) is drawn against Sloane Stephens (ranked 138) of the States

and Heather Watson (ranked 119 and climbing) is drawn against Stephanie Foretz Gacon (ranked 140) of France.

Results for the first 2 matches today involving British players:

Andy Murray beat Simone Bolelli in very windswept conditions which made playing unpleasant - 7:6, 6:4, 7:5

Although Elena Baltacha won the first set against Vania King 6:4, she lost the other 2 sets 1:6, 4:6

The big upset of the day to date is that Kim Clijsters, the womans number 2 has lost her match against Arantxa Rus.

Although Heather Watson did creditably well and almost broke against the serve of Kaia Kanepi in a couple of games in the second set, she lost in straight sets 1:6, 3:6.

She was playing against someone far more experienced than her and she will take a lot from this tournament. She has only just turned 19, and I wouldn't be surprised if within a couple of years she has become the British number 1 (that does depend on how the even younger Laura Robson develops over the next few years)

Andy Murray's next match (not today) will be against Michael Berrer (ranked 95) of Germany.

Murray's quarter of the draw is favourable for him and he should get to the semi finals where he is likely to face Rafael Nadal.

Both Jamie Murray and Colin Fleming won their first round Men's doubles and play their second round matches today. Jamie's match is the harder as they are against the Bryan brothers who are the top seeds.

Andy Murray lost his first 2 sets 4:6, 4:6. Then he clawed his way back to win the next 2 sets 6:3, 6:2. Bad light drew proceedings to a close last night leaving the deciding set to today. He was broken in the 5th set and things were looking bad when he was 3:5 down and Viktor Troicki was serving for the match. But Andy Murray managed to break Troicki's serve in that game. He won his service game so things were level again at 5:5. He then broke Troicki's serve again in the next game, won his next service game, so won the set 7:5, thus progressing to the quarter finals.
