What is this? A thread on "Decent Film Remakes"? Is there such a thing?...

...Well yes, I do believe there is.  Now the general consensus on Film Remakes are 'Why bother?' or 'Not as good as the original'

And for the most part that is right. But there are a few surprises when it comes to Remakes. One in particular is the remake of "The Last House on the Left".  I feel it surpasses the original in every way. TRAILER:

Are there any remakes you've seen that you thought were better than the original?

Oh and the reason why I am harping on about this is because of this trailer for the remake of 'Straw Dogs'.  I think it looks very promising.

I really dislike the remakes they make of classic British films like The Italian Job and The Ladykillers.

Can't think of a remake off the top of my head that I like better than the original but I do like the Hollywood versions of the Grudge and The Ring.

Film types I know tell me they are not a patch on the original Japanese films - or summat

Have some of these:

The Blob; I think I've only ever seen one blob and I'm not sure which one it was.

Clash of the Titans; remake

Dark Water; don't think I've seen it.

Dawn of the Dead; toughie erm orignal cos it was sooo bad.

The Fly; erm remake.

The Fog; original

EDIT: I am not saying that ALL these films are better than the originals.

In the original, isn't there a sort of rape scene where woman actually starts to enjoy it?

Well ......................i don't remember it like that - when I watched it in the seventies but ........................possibly - although I never saw it like that at all  Susan George played a great part in the film as I remember.
