Are you saying Blue was rubbish?

Do you think it goes that deep? I think Blue were popular in Europe once upon a time .................as is evident by the block voting - people vote for a bit of famiilairity - that's why we gave Jedward 12 points

Awww they weren't rubbish, but that's never made any difference to the other countries when they voted in previous years.

Yes, Soozy. I do think it goes that deep.  I know Blue were popular in Europe, and that may have been one reason for more votes, but still feel that they have heard the rumblings of discontent, and don't want to lose our backing of the contest.

Obviously not as bad as Scooch who only got votes from 2 countries that year,Ireland and Malta.

I thought it was ace The standard seems to have gone up a few notches, most of them sung in tune (and some of them were beriiilllliant singers   - apart from those fellas with the pointy hats and the bird with the little bike) I thought Lithuania and Austria were particularly good.

I thought Blue sounded wicked as well! I was a bit cringey cos I didn't know if they could do a 4 part harmony live but the little gits managed it

As for the detritus that is Jedward. My earlier thoughts still stand. I still can't believe that Jedward actually beat Blue in the judging.

Karma_

hahahahaha Karma!

I seem to think the opposite of you in all of that.

I thought Jedward were fab...    Eurovision suited them completely.     And the pointy hatted blokes were amazing..    most entertaining act of the night (plus as someone mentioned there were undertones of ska (pun intended) in their act).

Blue were good (how hot is Simon Webbe hubba hubba HUBBA!!!)   ...

and I expected the voting to be a lot worse than it was...   some people actually gave us points!!!

and winning it really was like passing the hot potato..   on account of the cost of hosting it next year...   so all round a happy ending !

Too big and over-produced for my taste.

In their efforts to out-do each other each year sees bigger and more glitzy presentation.

Far too many flashing lights in my face!

I liked France and Italy - but only because they had plain presentation without the flashing lights.

Pity I didn't like their voices - France with all that vibrato and Italy with sudden strange noises.

I don't much like Blue's semi-falsetto sound. It all sounds a bit strained and unpleasant to me.

I just wish they would return to simple staging.

I didn't like Blue's song.  Last year I thought the UK entry was brilliant and was backing it to win, even voted for it.  I hadn't even heard Blue's song before last night, but yer man screwed up in the beginning, fair enough he picked up towards the end, but it just was blah. It wasn't a winning song.

Having said that, Azerbaijan, really did nowt for me either , but they were one of the top 4 favourites to win before the show even started and they got high marks from a lot of countries, not just their neighbours.  It obviously floated a lot of boats.

The eastern countries aren't the only ones who block vote, we all do it.  The Scandanavian countries vote for each other...the central european countries vote for each other, it's always gone on in the Eurovision, it's just more noticeable now because we aren't winning any more   I also saw alot of gripes on FB last night because Ireland only gave the UK 6 points, yet the UK are against block voting

But the last few years it's been won by Finland, Norway, Germany so if you have a good song with a good performance you'll win, it really is as simple as that.
