Getting back to Mr PND (or not)

I found the bit about Antifreeze interesting as I recall seeing either a CSI or a Law and Order where someone was found guilty of harming or killing their baby with antifreeze only for it to surface ages later that there is some illness which looks like antifreeze poisoning. I'll have a google and see what I find.

Wonder if Mr PND saw the same show?

Not really ........sometimes it's hatred, jealousy, revenge etc. But .....................actually yeah - you could be right. I just think a newborn pushes some people to their very limits .............obviously it's no excuse for murder but .....................well - I'm not sure where I'm coming from TBH.

Just an incredibly sad case ...............that poor, poor little baby.

V V sad Soozy...... I just can't get past how premeditated it appears to have been from what's been reported of the prosecution case....and the fact that he tried to make out that it was SIDS....sounds like he knew exactly what he was doing to me, however depressed he may have been...can't work out from what I've read if he's still trying to claim that it was SIDS???

Ok it was an episode of Law and Order SVU called Poison. A woman is convicted of poisoning her baby with antifreeze but it turns out that the baby has a medical condition that mimics antifreeze poisoning and the antidote the hospital gave the baby made it worse.

I know it's fiction but  like I said I did wonder if this bloke had seen it as he seems to have trawled the web looking for info on killing a baby and making it look like natural causes

totally agree Supes   there are quite a few men who appear to be jealous of the time a baby takes in a relationship.  It's as if they feel sidelined.

Whether this man suffers from some form of mental health issue is debatable, however, he seems imo to be someone who thinks he should be the centre of any relationship and having a child changes that dynamic.

Most men who are put out at having a child tend to just leave the family unit or seek counselling to help them get over their insecurities.   This man dealt with it by trawling through the internet for months looking for a 'fool proof' way to dispose of this little baby.  I can't believe that he has chosen to plead PND as an excuse for those actions however,  I'm actually more sickened by the fact that his wife is standing by him

just seems like a big fat bloke, who took ages to pull a bird, and when he knocked her up,probably got proud, never thought that she might have to pay attention to the new baby he got jellus, got rid of the poor little kid, pretended he was a bit mental and thought he'd get away with it

he wants a good kicking and so does his missus

looking at him one word springs to mind *bitty*

I'm not sure he has Pengy, otherwise he'd presumably be pleading guilty to manslaughter but not murder and there's no mention of that in the reports.....I'm a bit confused tbh, but from what I've read it seems that he's pleading not guilty/making out that it was SIDS and using his depression as an explanation for the repeated google searches...Like I said, I'm a bit confused

Man and woman have a happy marriage and a full life, then along comes this poor little baby and spoils it all. He gets  jealous and resentful and takes that to the extreme of killing the child.

He then claims to be mentally ill to excuse his appalling behaviour.

He needs locking up and the key throwing away and the pair of them should be sterilised

I'm assuming a post mortem on the child has not been able to prove SIDS?  I would think that is the first thing they would look at if there were no marks on the child.  The fact that he's been charged suggests that the authorities didn't believe it was SIDS and that foul play was involved.  Although given recent history with doctors and shaken baby syndrome, caution would need heeded as sometimes, imo, doctors can see abuse where there is none.  However, that doesn't seem to be the case in this.

I still believe this is a man whose nose was put out of joint by the arrival of a child he didn't want.  He planned to kill it, succeeded and then put up a mental health explanation as his reason for doing it.

If he didn't want any children then why didn't he take the precaution of having the snip?  I know it's not 100% fool proof but he could have also put a cap on it then the job would be done

Pengy, from what I can see the medical reports are inconclusive but do conclude that the baby was at v low risk of SIDS, so the prosecution's case is that given his months of googling and the note etc. that he murdered the poor little thing

I really don't want to do trial by internet, but, given his extensive attempts to delete his internet search history etc. etc. why would anyone do that if they didn't have something to hide

Oh.....and he clearly wasn't so 'deranged' that he didn't have the forethought to do that!

I agree.  I also feel there must be a reason the authorities zoned in on him rather than the mother in addition to his internet searches.

I know it's easy for us to be armchair detectives but it's hard not to reach a conclusion given the details of his behaviour - it all screams he killed the child

If he doesn't get found guilty I'll eat my hat, coat, gloves, scarf and muff.....Ah well, will watch with interest what the defence has to say

Mmmmm, I think they probably can get depression though, that isn't hormone driven....TBH, I think from what i've read, that both of these sound like supremely selfish twonks, who should have put a hiking sock on it , never mind a condom...Errrrr, they're both architects, so presumably reasonably well educated, did no-one tell them how babies are made

I think they who thought this one up thought they would be clever trying it out.

They will try to convince the jury next that he gave birth as well

It wouldn't surprise me after the farce of this trial.

Ev (Peachy)

This is dreadful!  This is a truly horrible human being, and I don't believe for one minute that he didn't know what he was doing or that he is 'depressed,' and like many have said, it makes a mockery of genuine depression sufferers.  Sounds like he is a coniving, selfish cretin who deliberatly concocted this premeditated murder.,  Jail is far too good for him!  Hideous, hideous man.
