Urgh... My Nan was refused an appointment round her docs I went mental.

She now has an appointment (but it shouldn't take someone to phone up on the behalf of the old people )  the fella in charge was telling me the NHS HAVE to offer you an appointment within 48hrs....then when I said, so she should have an appointment for monday (which was what she wanted in the first place) he said, well no, you have to phone up monday morning and you MIGHT get an appointment I went on to argue "so thats not actually giving her an appointment" he argued it was, even though he had previously said she MAY NOT get an appointment *smacks head against wall*

Shocking! A lady of 90 should be given priority!  We have a system here, much the same...phone at 8am to get an appointment, redial constantly as its always an "engaged" tone then 20 minutes later, after redialing about 100 times, and nerves frazzled , be told no appointments left   But priority is given to patients with breathing difficulties, which should be me, as i am usually hyperventilating by then !

Zazz...I hate to bring this up but my grandfather died last December aged 96. He was in a nursing home by then and he'd seen a doc a few times in his last few months as by then we could see his systems were slowly shutting down.

Anyway, a GP from his surgery came out 2 or 3 times in his last week and hours before he died quietly in his sleep. Now I thought all would be well - after all he'd been seen by a doc just a few hours before. BUT apparently he'd not been seen by the GP he was actually registered with - one of the practice partners - that bod had always palmed off the home visits onto a locum or junior GP.

As he'd not been seen by HIS GP we had to have a post mortem. He was 96 ffs...

We can book online etc. too Neil, but the bookable appointments always seem a long time in advance...

normally a few days sometimes a week really depends how busy they are. But it is so much better than going in and the receptionist asking what the problem is, My response that is between me and the doctor. Them well I need that so I can book the appointment. Me no you don't it is none of your business. Just book it.

Much better booking online saves contact with nosy receptionists

Naa the surgery has half a dozen doctors. I can never get a appointment with my favorite one unless it is done about a month in advance but the rest are pretty good except one there is one I won't see as I don't like him. .
