We're not forced to watch the telly FGS! i have seen very little wedding coverage because I choose to switch channels. I will be watching on Friday .............I wont however watch the endless repeats.

IMO .........if anyone is totally sick of it - it's their own fault. I'm sure you can OD IF you watch and read everything in the media ...............I've chosen not to. I don't think it's that hard TBH!

I think it's very hard to avoid the wedding.  EVery shop I go into seems to be bulging at the seams with tacky souvenirs.  I hardly watch any mainstream TV, but every channel I have had on this last week has loads of adverts for wedding related programmes or the programmes themselves - turning over makes no difference because the adverts seem to be on all channels.  All of the newspapers are full of wedding stories.  But I'm finding that the most irritating thing of all is the radio - I generally have LBC on whilst I'm working, and the wedding is featured in every news bulletin every 15 minutes, there are frequent wedding-related adverts, trailers for the wedding coverage, and loads of the phone-ins are wedding related.

I'm not anti-monarchy at all, and hope they have a happy life together, but I'm no more interested in this wedding than I would be in the wedding of any other stranger who might be getting married.  I've no interest in Kate Middleton's wedding dress, what the guests will be wearing or eating, the route to be followed, or where they will be going on honeymoon.  But I really do think it is being rammed down my throat, and it's very difficult to avoid.  I will be working on Friday out of choice, but no doubt I'll have to work in silence to avoid the blanket radio coverage.

They talked about it for 10 minutes yesterday on the main news, and half an hour today - I only watched for half an hour while I was having my breakfast... I was left wondering if nothing else had happened at all in the rest of the world They even talk about it on the weather forecasts, and yesterday on the traffic and travel update cos they had closed some roads while they held a test run of the route

Plus like Growly said, loads of TV programs and adverts... I was in Asda yesterday and it was all decked out with Union Flag bunting - mind you, that did cheer the place up a bit and they do seem to decorate it for all sorts of occasions

You think about elephants.

The efforts to neither think of, or speak of the royal wedding, will be too obvious, thereby underming the whole objective.

That's probably right people are going to want to talk about how its a great idea to have somewhere that they don't have to talk about the royal wedding. While not realising they don't have to talk about it anyway

It would be a bad day for our country if the media did not talk about the royal wedding it would be seen as being very mean  spirited, do we really want to be seen like this to the rest of the world, our future king and queen are getting married,if we do not want to see anything about them  on the telly there are plenty of other stations we can watch, going back to the heading of this thread having not clicked on to the link. what a mean spirited landlord
