I'm a bit like your mum, Justy - once I start I can't stop looking!
I think Aimee will be pleased with the results (finger's crossed) and I'm sure she'll tell you all about it herself tomorrow.
mums got all these documents out theres birth marriage and death certificates, she spent a fortune im sure. she looking to see if theres anything shes missed she can look for right now..oh mother talk about hooked.
My paternal uncle did all the complex genealogy for my dad's lot so I have a list going back at least 300 years (hello Uncle Benjamin Disreali) and my mum's African lot have always used an oral tradition to pass down notable ancestors, like my great x loads granny who was a bit of a trollop around European sailors.
It is interesting Justa, all i need is a look at the 1911 census and i think i would got some answers but you have too pay and i haven't got a credit card i really want to know their names
Get an internet pay as you go credit card, 3V and 02 do them, thats what I use online....
No they just distanced themselves from their other family members, I only knew my nan, the rest of her family and my grandads family I never met..
whenn you join anstesty you do your ancestry pedigree on there and you can print it off or buy the posh one....
I have a thread there too , Summer. Good luck with your venture and hope it will be fruitful x

Ooh, well done you two
I mailed my aunt (it's her fault I got started on all of this!), and she said that sometimes you have to post or bump your threads to get them noticed. Also, try posting in as many sections as possible, for example: Surname, location, county - spread yourselves around to gain as much attention - and chance - as possible.
Good luck, and if I can help at all, give me a pm or a nudge in here
Hi Cosi, i have been trying to find the origins of my late husbands surname, which of course is my childrens name. Almost 3 years, then out of the blue someone posted very interesting information. I was concerned that the name seemed to originate in the Deep South of the US, and as he was very blonde, i was concerned of what they were up too ...you can imagine! But all seems well, touch wood. i am now communicating with a nice man who has been very helpful, and seems to be doing all the work for me!
Thanks for your invite for help xx
It's handy when you stumble upon someone like that, isn't it? I've found our friends over the pond rather useful as they do like a bit of history...
Yes they do Cosi x They even photograph gravestones and upload them!
dunno if this is any help...
I might just be telling you all something you already know...
have you tried Kew Records Office/the national archives...
I don't think they charge you..
http://www.nationalarchives.go.../records/default.htm
I think it shows where they married, when, each of their age, "Condition" such as bachelor or spinster, their job such as clerk, their residence at time of marriage, their father's name and his job. It also shows who witnessed them signing the marriage register, and the name of the person who married them.
sweet if you do want certificates try www.gro.gov.uk they are a bit cheaper from there.about ÂĢ10
Whatever you do, DON'T order your certificates through them. If at all possible, apply to the relevant local registry office. Look them up online, some of them you can actually order online too. Much cheaper.
Sweet I wondered did you ever go for it? I just happened upon this thread while I was trying to find the one I did regarding ancestry. If you need any help looking for things just give me a shout and if you'd rather do it privately I'm sure one of our friendly Mods will set us a private message up.
