Is that the Infinity package slim? It might be the same thing and they've just rebranded it.

Not sure Prom - I just said I wanted a connection that allowed me to use it as much as I wanted with no restrictions - cost me approx ÂĢ30 a month

Yeah it's the same one, that's what they're charging us. You can get a cheaper one with no restrictions (it's a lot cheaper but it's really crap) and 30 meg is about the speed they are promising us. Overkill really but with Virgin out of the equation Infinity is the only realistic choice.

Did I hear somewhere that BT are going to or have already started to use Fibre optics ?

Am not very up on technology but believe that is best ..

In the family home we have Virgin 50 MB but then it has to feed 5 pc & 2 lappy pooters, very often all at the same time!

Nope only Virgin have it. That's why I'm suspicious of BT's 'superfast' lines. I shall have to investigate. I have a magnifying glass and a Sherlock Holmes cap and everyfink!

I had so many arguments with BT over their 10mb Total Broadband package that speedtests I ran showed me it was performing at 2mb a lot of the time which affects even minor things like your browsing speed.

If you don't download a lot or don't use streaming much you'll probably be okay with Sky. There is no traffic management with Sky if you are in their catchment area which is a plus too. I just really, really don't want to go back to slow broadband having used cable for years.

Yeah...  my parents are literally the furthest house from the exchange... over the years as more & more people went online they watched their speed decrease...  it is painful trying to use the internet at their house.

Both my kids stream video on a daily basis..   my son is a youtube addict (he watches wrestling), daughter watches Korean soap operas.   Mr Ditty streams movies.   And then there is the PS3 Black Ops gaming.     So I do accept that as a household we are quite heavy users...  which is why I happily stumped up the ÂĢ30 a month.   I do not accept that we are unfair users though.

I might have to have a little go on some of the neighbours unsecured wifi's...   there are a couple of BThomehubs ...    see what they are like

There is nothing unfair about using what you pay for no matter how much people like Virgin and BT will argue otherwise. Yep go on a reccy  you might tap into an Infinity connection

whenever I ring these call centres that are located in other countries my Australian accent becomes very strong & the person on the other end of the phone cannot understand me lol which I love. They can see I'm calling from an English speaking country but I deffo don't sound like it, so I usually say ''no understand'' in my worst British accent to which they usually transfer me to GB or their supervisor who speaks English amazing well. Thats how I usually solve my problem. The other way is I play the dumb Aussie which works well too

Maybe BT are going to use Virgins cable network, like other phone companies use BT landline wires ?

Keep us informed of your findings

Easy role to play that figs

I find quite a few UK accents hard to understand sometimes on the phone - find myself saying "pardon" or "can you repeat please"

I don't have an accent..

I just don't understand how such a tiny place can have so many different accents but then there is the lazy speech factor to consider

my kids get their spelling words at school wrong because of the accents here. It really does me nucking futs

Aaw rubbbbbiiiisssshhhhhh! Nothing more frustrating If it helps, I've been with sky for 4 years and they've been great  It really does depend on where you live tho doesn't it.. On a lighter note, I once had an Indian caller tell ME to f-off and hang up He was calling from a mobile company & asked me how much I currently pay for my monthly contract.. I said "I'm sorry but that's none of your business" and he flipped! He told me I was rude and should f-off his accent saying it was so hilarious I could only laugh
